The City of Hopkinsville is relaunching its City Diplomat program, giving citizens a chance to learn more about how city government and its departments operate.
Crissy Fletcher spoke with the Rotary Club of Hopkinsville Tuesday and says the Diplomat program began in 2019 but had to go on pause because of the COVID-19 pandemic—but they’re eager for their first program to begin in January, with about 15 to 20 participants to be chosen to take part in the classes that take place the first Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m.
A second round of classes will start in July—the program is open to adults living in or owning a business in Christian County. Fletcher says each course focuses on different aspects of city government, from administration to the executive branch, law enforcement to public works and everything in between.
Applications are available at the Municipal Building at 715 South Virginia Street or online at hoptown.org. For more information, contact Fletcher at 270-890-0210.
