Kentucky continues to trend in a good direction where it comes to COVID-19, with Governor Andy Beshear reporting 2,633 new cases from over the weekend.
Breaking down the numbers, there were 1,275 new cases on Saturday, along with 30 deaths, 803 cases reported on Sunday and 28 new deaths, and them Monday saw 544 new COVID cases, along with 23 deaths. The positivity rate is now at 5.84 percent, and Governor Beshear says that rate is falling faster than they expected, which is a very good thing.
Governor Beshear says booster shots—which does not include third doses for those who are immunocompromised—are starting to become available and he urges those who are in high-risk employment to look for an appointment to get one.
He says its likely that Pfizer vaccines could soon be approved for children between the ages of five and 11 years old, and he says they’ll be sure to keep everyone as informed as possible so they can hopefully get those taken care of before the holidays.
Kentuckians who have lost a loved one due to COVID-19 have a chance to apply for funeral assistance through the state, set to cover costs incurred from January 20, 2020 until now, with the number to call for more information being 1-844-684-6333.
