A man and child were killed in a two-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon near Dawson Springs on Interstate 69 in Hopkins County.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office investigated and determined 26-year old Kara Smith of Paducah had been headed north near the 91 mile-marker a little before 5 p.m. when for unknown reasons she veered into the median, over-corrected and then traveled back across the median and into the southbound lanes.
She collided with a southbound pickup driven by 30-year old Kevin Emily of Benton.
Two passengers in Smith’s car—31-year old Jacob Jarred of Dresden, Tennessee and a small child—were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Smith and another small child in the car were flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where they are in stable condition.
Emily was transported to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, where he was listed in stable condition.
