Appalachian State booted a 24-yard field goal as time expired to upset 16th-ranked Coastal Carolina 30-27 in Sun Belt Conference action last night. It’s the Mountaineers first win over a ranked team since their unforgettable victory over Michigan at the Big House back in 2007. The Chanticleers suffered their first loss of the season and dropped to 6-and-1.

Gonzaga basketball coach Mark Few is pleading guilty to misdemeanor driving under the influence. As a result, Few will pay a fine of one thousand dollars and perform 24 hours of community service. Few’s driver’s license will also be suspended until November 5th, and after that he’ll have to use an ignition interlock device in his car for the next year. He has also already finished the required alcohol and drug class. Few was arrested in Northern Idaho in early September when a police officer pulled him over after he was driving while intoxicated and swerving his car. Gonzaga suspended Few for their first two exhibition games and their season opener against Dixie State on November 9th.
