‘Classic fall weather’ expected this week

Seasonal temperatures are expected in Western Kentucky this week and it may be later than average before the region sees its first truly cold weather of the year.

Mike York with the National Weather Service in Paducah said during the weekly conference call that it will feel very much like fall for most of this week—especially late in the week.

There were reports of scattered frost in outlying areas early Sunday morning with temperatures in the mid-30’s, but nothing significant enough to cause damage to plants. The region’s first freeze typically comes in late October, but York says that likely won’t happen this year based on current forecasts.

In fact, the long-term outlooks are showing warmer than weather expected next week.

Current trends show a possibility that next week could also be wetter than average—which would not be welcome news for the Halloween weekend.
