Bentzel says new high school could have name in next couple of months

Land studies of the proposed site for the new consolidated high school in Christian County are underway and the school could have a name in the next couple months.

Superintendent Chris Bentzel says there’s a checklist the district has to complete before it can complete the purchase of the property on the south side of the intersection of Fort Campbell Boulevard and Lovers Lane.

The school board will also be looking to approve a design for the building in the coming months.

Over 1,500 suggestions were received for a name of the new high school and Bentzel says the board could make a decision on the name by the end of 2021.

The goal is to have students in the new school by the fall of 2024.
