A Republican has made it known she will run for Christian County Clerk in 2022.
Erica Newby previously worked at the clerk’s office for seven and a half years and says in a social media post that she “developed a wealth of knowledge and hands on experience with policies and procedures.”
Newby says she feels “the clerk’s office has been stagnant in progression over the past” and that she has “a lot of new and exciting ideas that will not only benefit the residents of Christian County but the employees of the Courthouse as well.”
Among the changes she’d make would be updating the clerk’s office website with more complete information and working with the sheriff’s office to try and consolidate the vehicle inspection process that would only require one trip to the courthouse.
Newby is a 1994 graduate of Christian County High School and she attended Eastern Kentucky University.
Longtime incumbent Mike Kem has not yet announced whether he will seek re-election next year.
