The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library Friends of the Library group is celebrating five years of service.
Margaret MacDonald noted in an email this week that the Friends have purchased a television for the children’s library educational programs, bought iPads for children to use in the library, purchased a new lectern with microphone for the upstairs community room and have provided over $15,000 in donated items and programs since 2016.
The group initiated and funded a computer hotspot checkout program for internet connection in patrons’ homes, has provided guest speakers for school programs through the Kentucky Humanities Council and sponsored guest speakers for adult programs in the library.
A development coming soon, MacDonald says the Friends of the Library is providing half the cost for a new book drop along Bethel Street at the library entrance.
