A juvenile has been arrested and charged with murder for the Monday evening shooting death of 19-year old Alex Updegrove on Fairview Drive.
According to the Hopkinsville Police Department report, the juvenile—whose identity is redacted on the arrest report—is alleged to have pointed a gun at the victim while they were at a residence in the 400 block of Fairview around 8 p.m. The juvenile reportedly told the victim he “should just shoot” him. A witness at the scene told officers the juvenile then loaded and discharged the gun, shooting Updegrove. Another witness told officers they entered the room in time to see the victim fall to the floor and the juvenile holding the pistol.
The investigation is ongoing.
