October begins Fall Forest Fire Hazard Season in Kentucky and there are a few steps you can take to help prevent wildfires.
Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham says the fall season has traditionally been a time when the weather is conducive for fast-spreading forest fires.
Kentuckians are urged to postpone any outdoor burning until the evening hours when the humidity levels are typically higher and winds are usually lower.
If you go camping this fall, always be sure to completely extinguish any campfires and never leave a fire unattended.
