Public Power Week celebrating local power utilities and those who serve their communities kicks off next week, and Hopkinsville Electric System is hosting some activities to take part.
President and CEO Jeff Hurd appeared on WHOP Friday morning and says they’ll have multiple prizes giveaways throughout the week, with tickets to shows, gift cards and more up for grabs by citizens.
He says work continues on expanding fiber internet access into surrounding communities and he’s hopeful the physical work will begin in the new year.
Hurd says HES has been working on several projects updating hardware and more throughout the city, and they still have some more to be done.
Hurd says Power Week gives them the chance to emphasize the advantages of being locally owned and operated, recognizes the hard work done by linemen and staff, and thank the citizens for their support.
