The Human Rights Commission is excited to bring back the Unity Breakfast in October, where they will hand out awards and celebrate diversity in the community.
Executive Director Idalia Luna and Raychel Farmer appeared on WHOP Thursday morning to talk about what people can expect if they attend the breakfast on October 28 at 7:30 a.m. at the James E. Bruce Convention Center. Farmer says they’ll hand out multiple awards at the event, including the traditional and prestigious Hal and Bettye Thurmond Award.
Luna says tickets are on sale now at $20 apiece—though they will be $30 at the door—with table sponsorships available for those who want to bring a party.
She says the guest speaker will be Terrance Sullivan, the Executive Director of the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights, and he’ll talk about how great of gift diversity in community truly is.
Formerly known as the Mayor’s Unity Breakfast, the Unity Breakfast is held in October of each year in conjunction with the annual Human Rights Week. The theme of this year’s breakfast is Our Unity is Our Strength, and Our Diversity is Our Power.
