Todd County School System Superintendent Mark Thomas says K-PREP assessment results from the last school year won’t be used to judge the district against normal pre-pandemic years, but will instead be a tool to guide them as they work to meet needs of individual students.
There hasn’t been a normal school year in any district since May of 2019 and Thomas says it would be unfair to look at testing data from the spring of this year and compare it to years ago.
North Todd and South Todd Elementary School each had a greater percentage of its students proficient or distinguished than the state as a whole in every category except writing.
Students at Todd County Central High School performed poorer than the state average in all categories on the ACT and on state assessments. All high school juniors in Kentucky must take the ACT each year and Thomas says addressing the shortcomings there is part of an overall effort that meets individual students where they are in classroom learning.
There were mixed results at Todd County Middle School, but overall there was a lower percentage of students proficient or distinguished in all subject matter than the state average.
As a whole, Thomas says he’s happy with the direction the Todd County School System is headed.
