Several young ladies win scholarship money at Distinguished Young Woman competition

University Heights Academy student Alison Craig is this year’s Distinguished Young Woman of Christian County following Sunday’s competition at the Alhambra Theatre, but several local young ladies also won scholarship money.

Craig was the overall winner, Piper Hancock was first-runner-up and Destiny Fields was second-runner-up.

Craig also finished first in overall scholastics, Riley Harper was second and Hancock was third.

Hancock and Fields were the winners in fitness, Craig and Hancock in self-expression, and Fields and Craig in interview and talent.

The over-achiever awards went to Riley Harper and Koryn Hicks and the spirit award voted on by the competitors was presented to Hancock.

All-In Grit Awards of $100 each went to Craig, ShaNiah Bridges, Rachel Baker, Fields, Aly Adler, Rosa Galvan, Hancock, Hicks, Harper, Shadey Knight.

Craig will now represent Christian County at the Distinguished Young Woman of Kentucky competition in January in Lexington.
