Active COVID case and quarantine numbers are improving in the Christian County Public School System and the district has another tool in its bag to keep students in school with the Test to Stay program beginning Monday.
Students who are in-school close contacts with someone who is COVID positive can go to Christian County Middle School between 6 and 9:30 a.m. on school days and not have to quarantine as long as they are negative.
Superintendent Chris Bentzel says the program is optional and it can also allow a student to continue to participate in extra-curricular activities.
There could be some bumps in the road with the program, so he is asking families to be patient.
The most recent Christian County Public School System COVID Dashboard shows 76 active student cases, 16 in faculty and staff and 145 school-acquired close contact quarantines.
Bentzel is hopeful improving numbers and the new program will help keep as many students as possible in in-person learning.
