The Rotary Club of Hopkinsville got a visit from the President of Austin Peay State University at Tuesday’s meeting, who says the university is navigating the pandemic as well as they can.
President Dr. Michael Licari says they would have preferred having a semester where they didn’t have to worry about COVID-19 anymore—but since that couldn’t happen, they’ve implemented guidelines, including masking indoors, free testing and access to vaccines.
He says they were also able to help with COVID response within the community, while keeping their own number of cases among students and staff down.
Dr. Licari says Austin Peay will celebrate their 100th anniversary in 2027, and in the meantime, they’re always examining new ways to bring success to their students in an ever-changing world.
The pillars he intends to focus on moving forward include developing relationships at every level in the community, enrollment, student support, academic strength, communication and institutional vitality.
