Distinguished Young Women of Christian County will host its annual scholarship showcase Sunday afternoon at the Alhambra Theatre and 10 local high school students will compete.
Organizer Holly Hampton says Distinguished Young Women is a national program with local, state and national competitions.
There are five categories the contestants are judged in and each presents opportunities to win scholarship money.
Most girls win at least some scholarship money each year and last year every contestant won something, thanks to the generosity of the community.
This year’s contestants are Alison Craig, Piper Hancock and Riley Harper from University Heights Academy; ShaNiah Bridges, Rachel Baker, Rosa Galvan, Shadey Knight and Aly Adler from Christian County High School; and Destiny Fields and Koryn Hicks of Hopkinsville High School.
The program will begin at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Alhambra and tickets can be purchased for $10 in advance from the contestants or for $12 at the door.
