Fire damaged a home on Canton Street in Hopkinsville Monday morning and a citizen helped a resident escape without injury.
Crews responded to the call of fire about 9:20 a.m. at 1523 Canton and Hopkinsville Deputy Fire Chief Bill Pyle says a resident was treated by EMS, but didn’t require a trip to the hospital.
The only other person in the home, identified by Hopkinsville police as Trey Kranz, had been upstairs painting when the fire began. Sgt. Tony Sierra says Kranz broke out a basement window to get the resident and everyone was outside before police or fire crews arrived.
Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
