The Pennyrile Area Development District Board of Directors on Monday heard updates from local and state officials on ongoing operations during the pandemic.
State Representative Melinda Prunty of Greenville discussed the special session of the Kentucky General Assembly that ended last week, saying she believes lawmakers took prudent action to mitigate the pandemic, while delegating decisions on most mandates or restrictions to local officials.
Access to workers compensation benefits for first responders who miss work due to COVID-19 was not extended during the session, but Representative Prunty believes it will be addressed retro-actively during the regular session in 2022.
Agency on Aging Director Jill Collins says all nine local senior centers continue to provide a meal each weekday to seniors who need them by curbside or delivery and congregate meals also remain open—though crowds have been down lately.
