On the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania, VFW Post 1913 paused Saturday to remember those victims.
Post Commander John Brame reminded that many thousand more victims were injured in the explosions or made deathly ill by the toxic smoke from the burning World Trade Center as first responders looked for survivors.
He says 9/11 is a time to remember the bravery shown by firefighters and police officers who ran into burning buildings that would soon collapse.
It’s also important to never forget 9/11, because there are those who would attack the United States again.
