College Football

ESPN reports the Big 12 is set to add four new members on Friday. BYU, Central Florida, Cincinnati and Houston are the schools. A source says the vote could come as early as tomorrow. The four will replace Oklahoma and Texas who are headed to the Southeastern Conference.

The Action Network reports the Redbox Bowl has been canceled for the 2021 season. The Pac-12’s sixth selection and Big Ten’s seventh selection were scheduled to play but bowl officials were unable to secure a national television partner to broadcast this year’s game. It’s hopeful the game in San Francisco will return in 2022.

NFL

The 2021 season begins tomorrow night with the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosting the Dallas Cowboys at Raymond James Stadium. Dallas has won the last two meetings and leads the all-time series 13-4.

Golf

United States Ryder Cup captain Steve Stricker announced his six Captain’s picks for the Ryder Cup team today. They are: Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth, Daniel Berger, Tony Finau, Scottie Scheffler and Harris English. The six join Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas, Colin Morikawa and Patrick Cantlay. The Ryder Cup matches against Europe take place September 21-26 at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin.
