Hopkinsville man served with warrant for alleged child abuse

An arrest warrant for criminal child abuse was served by Hopkinsville police Tuesday afternoon against a Clarksville man.

It alleges that on June 12, 36-year-old Sehgarra Alexander of Clarksville struck his nine-year-old daughter repeatedly with a belt and buckle, threw her down and caused her to hit a table and the floor, and that he threatened to kill her.

The alleged incident happened at the girl’s grandmother’s home and the warrant says the grandmother and uncle had to step in to stop the abuse.

Alexander is charged with first-degree criminal child abuse against a victim under the age of 12.
