While there’s been a recent spike in the number of new cases of COVID-19 in Christian County Public Schools, the staff numbers have been good enough to allow continued in-person learning.
There were 199 active student cases and 23 among faculty and staff as of Thursday and Superintendent Chris Bentzel says vaccinations have helped keep the faculty relatively healthy.
Bentzel says while there have been flare-ups in places like Christian County High School, overall student attendance has been ok.
Meanwhile, the district recently celebrated receiving $10 million in state grant money for construction of the new consolidated high school that includes the Gateway Academy and Bentzel says they applied soon after learning of the opportunity.
There were 462 COVID quarantines across the district as of Thursday, including 125 at Hopkinsville High School.
