Murray man charged with murder in December shooting in Calloway Co.

A Murray man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in Calloway County in December.

According to a news release from the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, officers had responded to a residence in the 2800 block of Cook Store Trail on December 21 of 2020 for reports of a shooting.  Upon arrival, they discovered 53-year-old Luis Mancilla of Murray outside of the home with an apparent gunshot wound.

Macilla was transported to a local hospital, where he would later die of his injuries.

Investigation began into Mancilla’s death in December and on August 27, the case was presented to a grand jury who issued an indictment for murder against 40-year-old Benjamin Jones of Murray.

Jones was arrested on Thursday and lodged in the Calloway County Jail.
