Ky. reports 5,457 new COVID cases, 45 new deaths

Kentucky had it’s second highest day of new COVID-19 cases Thursday at 5,457, but the positivity rate decreased slightly.

Of those new cases, 1,774 of them were individuals under the age of 18—Governor Andy Beshear reported 45 new deaths, putting the death toll since the pandemic began at 7,821.  The positivity rate fell slightly to 13.29 percent.

There are currently 2,315 people in the hospital with COVID-19, 620 in the ICU and 408 are on a ventilator.

On the COVID-19 state incidence rate map, Trigg County is once again listed as ‘orange’, while Christian, Todd and the majority of counties remain ‘red’.
