Woman arrested after early morning stabbing incident

Hopkinsville police made an arrest following an early Wednesday morning stabbing incident on Hipkins Street.

An arrest citation for 40-year-old Maria Zivotin of Hopkinsville says officers were called to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center emergency room regarding a stabbing and made contact with the victim, 41-year-old James Fritz of Hopkinsville.

He told police he and Zivotin, who is his wife, had been in an argument when she allegedly came at him with a knife in her hand.

Fritz said he put his leg up in a defensive manner to keep his wife off of him and that’s when she allegedly used the knife to cut him across the calf, causing injuries that required several stitches.

Zivotin was arrested and charged with second-degree assault (domestic violence).
