Ky. adds 4,941 COVID cases, the third highest ever day of reported cases

Kentucky had its third highest day of new reported COVID-19 cases Wednesday with 4,941.

Of that number, roughly 1,500 were individuals under the age of 18—there were 12 new deaths, putting the state death toll since the pandemic began at 7,776.  Over 2.5 million Kentuckians have received at least the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination.

On the COVID-19 state incidence rate map, all but one count remains ‘red’, and that’s Woodford County, which is listed as ‘orange.’

There are currently 2,267 citizens in the hospital with COVID-19, 644 in the ICU and 410 on a ventilator—of Kentucky’s 10 regions representing hospital capacity, nine of them are reported as indicating current inpatient, ICU, or ventilator capacity in use at 80 percent or higher.
