Ky. gains 4,548 COVID cases, 23 deaths

Kentucky gained another 4,548 cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, along with 23 new deaths.

According to the daily COVID report, roughly 1,407 of those newly reported cases were individuals 18 years of age and younger.  The positivity rate increased slightly, now up to 13.66 percent, while all but one county on the state incidence rate map remains ‘red’, including all of western Kentucky.

Governor Beshear once again urged people to get vaccinated, as most of those currently in the hospital are unvaccinated, and to wear a mask while out in public.

He says this is currently the hottest the state has ever been for the virus, and people should come together to do what needs to be done to stop the spread.

There are currently 2,274 people in the hospital with COVID-19, 617 in the ICU and 406 on a ventilator.
