Bond motion denied, final pretrial set in N. Kentucky Avenue murder case

A final pretrial conference before trial takes place in October was set in Christian Circuit Court Monday morning in the murder case against Larayna and Anthony Manning.

The Mannings are set to go to trial on October 4, with defense attorney Shannon Powers saying it would be wise to set a last pretrial hearing before then—Judge Andrew Self agreed and set a pretrial hearing for September 20.

Defense attorney Jason Pfeil once again requested a bond modification for his client, Larayna Manning, saying she would be willing to be under strict home incarceration while out.

Judge Self denied the motion however, saying that trial is only about a month away and her charges are serious ones.

Larayna Manning is charged with murder and first-degree robbery, while Anthony Manning is charged with complicity to murder and complicity to robbery in the October 2020 shooting death of Calvin “Cue” Taylor on North Kentucky Avenue.

As previously reported, Hopkinsville police allege Anthony Manning drove his mother to Taylor’s home and went inside after hearing gunfire. Drugs, cash and a safe were missing from Taylor’s home when police began the investigation and police say Taylor’s mouth and wrists were duct-taped, indicating there had been a robbery.
