Summer Salute comes to a close with huge Travis Tritt concert

The Summer Salute came to a close with a bang as the sounds of country music performed by Travis Tritt filled the air from the main stage by the Christian County Justice Center.

The free concert that drew huge crowds downtown wrapped up the two-day festival that was host to a record number of food and wares vendors, carnival rides, family friendly activities and more. Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tab Brockman says Travis Tritt has always been one of the most widely requested artists to headline the festival, so they were beyond thrilled when he accepted the gig.

He wasn’t the only musical act as nine other artists and performers sang and danced and celebrated throughout the weekend. Brockman says none of it would be possibly without their sponsors.

Brockman says they were glad to be able to host the Summer Salute this year, after canceling last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and he hopes that next year will be even bigger once the pandemic is behind us and people don’t have to worry for their health. He says they’re already working on a deal with next year’s headline act, with information to be released at a later date.
