Summer Salute Festival underway in downtown Hopkinsville

The Summer Salute Festival in downtown Hopkinsville kicked off Friday morning and continues through the weekend with live music and activities.

Things opened at 10 a.m. and they will Saturday morning as well, with a record number of food vendors and items to shop for—Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tab Brockman says people started showing up early, eager to get out of the house and have fun and he expects it will be a fantastic weekend.

Jimmy Church takes the main stage this evening, and the live music will span all through Saturday right up until the headline act of legendary country music artist Travis Tritt at 7 p.m.  Brockman reminds that entry to the festival, along with the Travis Tritt concert, is totally free to attend and they encourage everyone to do what the feel its best to protect themselves, and they will provide sanitizing stations.

Festival organizers extended the festival’s foot print further up East Ninth Street to make room for the larger number of vendors of multiple varieties, along with the carnival rides and fun activities for children.
