Summer Salute returns downtown this weekend

The Summer Salute returns to downtown Hopkinsville this weekend, concluding with the headline act of iconic country music artist Travis Tritt on Saturday.

Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tab Brockman and Coordinator Toby Hudson appeared on WHOP Wednesday morning and says people need to be on alert in the coming days for road closures downtown as they begin to set up the festival, which has a record number of vendors and activities to make room for.

The festival opens at 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday and runs until 10 p.m. both days and Brockman says there will be live music all day and nearly 50 food vendors to choose from.

There will be activities and rides for kids all weekend, and Brockman says they’re excited for the return of the festival.

Brockman says they are asking people to take what COVID precautions they feel they need to, whether that’s wearing masks or social distancing, and says they will have hand sanitizing stations placed liberally through the festival for people to take advantage of.
