Ky. gains 3,576 cases of COVID-19, nine deaths

Kentucky is on track to have every county in the state listed as ‘red’ on the COVID-19 state incidence rate map as Governor Andy Beshear reported 3,576 new cases Wednesday.

Along with an increase to the positivity rate, which is now at 12.59 percent, the number of individuals in the ICU with COVID-19 also increased, with the governor saying hospitals are starting to reach capacity.

He pleaded for those who are unvaccinated to get the shot as soon as possible, and he urged those who are vaccinated to talk to their loved ones who aren’t.

Nine more Kentuckians have died due to COVID-19, putting the overall total at 7,468 since the pandemic began.  There are currently 1,658 people in the hospital with COVID-19, 466 in the ICU and 229 on a ventilator.
