Ky. gains 3,276 COVID-19 cases, 2.4 million vaccinated

Kentucky had over 3,000 new cases of COVID-19 reported Tuesday, while the number of people vaccinated against the virus also increased.

Governor Andy Beshear reported 3,276 cases of COVID-19, the highest amount reported in a single day in multiple months, and now approximately 2.4 million Kentuckians have been vaccinated.  The positivity rate also increased once again, now at 12.47 percent.

The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is currently at 1,603, there are 441 in the ICU and 238 on a ventilator.

The bulk of the state remains ‘red’ on the COVID-19 state incidence rate map, denoting that the spread of the virus is critically high in the majority of counties.  Eight more Kentuckians have died due to COVID, putting the death toll at 7,459.
