Man arrested for assault of police officer

A Hopkinsville man was arrested early Monday morning for domestic assault and assault of a police officer following an incident on Broad Street.

An arrest citation for 36-year-old Tarvous Haskins of Hopkinsville says officers received a report that Haskins had punched a family member and they found him allegedly under the influence of alcohol while standing in the street.

He allegedly struggled with officers and punched one on the side of the head, causing injury.

Haskins was eventually arrested and charged with fourth-degree domestic assault, third-degree assault of an officer, resisting arrest, public intoxication, possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence.

Police say Haskins attempted to hide a baggie of marijuana in the sheets of a hospital bed while receiving medical clearance at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
