The Christian County Cattleman’s Association Lonestar Rodeo is coming back to the Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds on August 20 and 21.
Brandon Garnett with the association appeared on WHOP Wednesday morning and says they’re excited to bring the rodeo back to the community after having to cancel last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He says funds raised during the two-day event go towards their scholarship program to help local students.
Garnett says unfortunately they will be cancelling the special needs rodeo after much consideration, in an effort to keep those children safe and healthy.
However, they will be recording the rodeo for those children and then sending the video to the schools, so those students can still get a glimpse of the rodeo.
Gates open at 7:30 p.m. both nights and events include bulling riding, bronco riding, barrel racing, calf roping, steer wrestling and more. Garnett says professionals travel from all over to participate in the Lonestar Rodeo and he expects it to be a great show. Tickets can be purchased online through the Lonestar Rodeo website.
