Awards presented, announcements made at Salute to Ag. Breakfast

Awards were presented and announcements were made during Tuesday’s Christian County Chamber of Commerce Salute to Agriculture Breakfast.

One of the bigger announcements came from Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Brooke Jung, who noted the presence of Hopkinsville Milling Company, Siemer Milling and Continental Mills before officially proclaiming Hopkinsville as the “Batter Capital of the World.”

Marketing efforts will be geared toward the designation and Ag. Commissioner Ryan Quarles also committed to promote the community with the moniker.

Commissioner Quarles also praised Christian County for being an Ag. Leader in Kentucky.

The local Agri-Business Committee named Buy Rite Parts and Supply the Agri-Business of the Year, Ross Morgan was named Friend of Agriculture, Kirk Brunson is the Farmer of the Year and the Distinguished Service Award went to longtime Ag. Extension Agent Jay Stone.

F&M Bank had the high bid of $11,500 to purchase this year’s 4H basket, with those funds to go to local 4H clubs.
