Christian Fiscal Court heard updates from the public library and the Christian County Fire Association at Tuesday’s meeting and approved a memorandum for a justice grant program.
It was a special called meeting that took place later in the day than normal due to the Salute to Agriculture breakfast taking place during the usual meeting time that morning. Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library Executive Director Deanna Sova gave a brief update on the state of the library, saying they typically have 74 people sign-up for library cards in a month, and the data does show a decrease in people served last year.
She says they were able to take advantage of pandemic closures by completing some much-needed upgrades and repairs, while continuing to serve the community in numerous ways.
President of the Christian County Fire Association Bobby Chandler informed fiscal court that thanks to some generous donors and grants, they were able to purchase some equipment that will help them more efficiently perform gran bin rescues.
Magistrates approved a memorandum of understanding in relation to a Justice Assistance Grant program, which Judge-Exective Steve Tribble says, since the city and county file jointly for it, either the Hopkinsville Police Department or the Christian County Sheriff’s Office could receive the grant, but they’ve agreed it will go towards the Juvenile Drug Court program.
