A Christian County Grand Jury returned new indictments against a man accused of shooting to individuals at a gas station on East Ninth Street.
The new indictments are unrelated to that incident, and with the grand jury indicting Jaylynn Cheatham for second-degree strangulation, first-degree strangulation, second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault and first-degree wanton endangerment. In one incident on May 2, Cheatham is accused of striking a female victim in the head and face repeatedly with a closed fist, causing her to fall unconscious and sustain multiple serious injuries. He reportedly choked the victim with his bare hands and pulled a handgun during the assault, threatening to kill her.
In a different incident on May 7, Cheatham is accused of assaulting a female victim and strangling her, causing numerous injuries. According to the police report, the victim reportedly locked herself in a bathroom to seek shelter and Cheatham blocked her from leaving the bathroom and location while in a ‘violent rage’.
Indicted for kidnapping, human trafficking, possession of cocaine, unlawful imprisonment, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia is 41-year old Alvin Brown. He is alleged to have transported a female victim from Tennessee to Kentucky and to have held her captive in a hotel for over a month under threat of physical violence. He reported told the victim that if she tried to run, he would ‘put her in a body bag’, and she told officers that if she didn’t do what he told her to, he would beat her.
