The Todd County Board of Education Thursday night moved back the start date of the upcoming school year.
A news release says that after a “thoughtful review of construction and renovations at all Todd County School facilities,” the board amended the calendar with a new first day of school on Wednesday, August 25.
The first day had been scheduled for Wednesday, August 11.
Kindergarten students won’t begin their year until September 1.
Director of District Wide Services Jennifer Pope notes that “All Todd County Schools have received many safety improvements this summer including new keyless entry door locks, new intercom systems, restroom facility renovations, door entry compliance upgrades, upgraded air handler systems, and ionized air purification systems in every classroom for a better learning environment.”
She says a new full calendar for the upcoming school year will be shared with the community on Friday.
