Report: Titans sign backup QB Matt Barkley, release Deshone Kizer

A source tells the Tennessean the Tennessee Titans are planning to release quarterback Deshone Kizer and signing Matt Barkley. The Titans have not confirmed the story, but Barkley said on Twitter today he has signed with Tennessee. Barkley’s addition comes as Logan Woodside had clearly outplayed Kizer early in training camp to backup Ryan Tannehill. Woodside appeared in six games for the Titans last season. However, Kizer, a former second-round pick out of Notre Dame, has not been stellar in early workouts. He ended the 2020 season on Tennessee’s practice squad.
