A Christian County Grand Jury will soon hear the case against 36-year-old Mory Burse of Hopkinsville, who is charged with murder for the July 28 shooting death of 48-year-old Devon Kendrick on Sharpe Street.
Hopkinsville Police Detective Mike Luckingham testified during a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Christian District Court that Kendrick identified Burse as the person who shot him and said it was over $50.
Burse had been staying at the Travel Inn and Detective Luckingham says he lied during an interview when he said he didn’t leave his room at all on the night of the crime.
Kendrick was shot multiple times on the arms and torso with a 9 mm handgun and Luckingham testified they recovered 14 bullets.
District Judge Lindsey Adams ruled there was enough evidence to send the case to the grand jury for consideration and he left Burse’s bond at $500,000.
Burse is charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
