Christian County is once again ‘red’ on the state COVID-19 incidence rate map, as Kentucky gained another 2,583 cases Wednesday.
Along with that spike in cases, the positivity rate jumped above 10 percent for the first time in months, now at 10.08 percent. There were also 10 newly reported deaths in the state, putting the death toll since the pandemic began at 7,362—to date.
Governor Andy Beshear called it the worst report since February.
He says Kentuckians can fight back against the virus by masking and getting vaccinated.
Roughly 2.3 million Kentuckians have been vaccinated against the virus.
There are currently 889 individuals in the hospital with COVID, 275 in the ICU and 100 on a ventilator. Along with Christian County, Todd, Logan, Muhlenberg and Hopkins counties are also ‘red’ on the state incidence rate map, while Trigg County remains ‘yellow’.
An order signed by local judges is making it a requirement that anyone entering the Christian County Justice Center, employees and visitors, must wear a facial covering regardless of vaccination status. This order is effective immediately and will remain in effect until further notice.
