College Football

LSU quarterback Myles Brennan is undergoing surgery for a left arm injury. ESPN reports the injury is believed to be a broken arm. Brennan was the Tigers starting QB last season, before suffering a season-ending abdominal injury after three games. The fourth-year junior was expected to be competing for the starting job against sophomore Max Johnson. A recovery timeline is yet to be determined.

NFL

The Indianapolis Colts announced Monday that Carson Wentz will undergo surgery on his left foot. The newly acquired quarterback is expected to miss five to 12 weeks. Indianapolis traded for Wentz from the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason in exchange for a 2021 third round pick and a 2022 conditional second-rounder. Colts backup quarterback Jacob Eason is in line to start with Wentz out.

Philadelphia Eagles rookie receiver DeVonta Smith is expected to be sidelined for two-to-three weeks with a sprained MCL. Smith suffered the injury during Saturday’s practice and underwent an MRI Sunday, which revealed the injury. The Eagles are listing the rookie as week-to-week on the team’s injury report. Smith was selected 10th overall, out of Alabama in this year’s NFL Draft.

NBA

NBA free agency is up and running after a first day filled with signings and trades. The Chicago Bulls landed Lonzo Ball in a sign-and-trade deal, with the Miami Heat doing the same to acquire Kyle Lowry. Chris Paul agreed to stay in Phoenix, signing a four-year deal worth 120-million dollars. Trae Young, Jimmy Butler and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander all agreed to max-extensions with their respective clubs.
