A Hopkinsville man who allegedly got a stolen forklift stuck on the railroad tracks was arrested Monday morning by city police.
An arrest citation for 39-year-old Michael Suttle of Hopkinsville says he had a forklift that was stolen from Rogers Group stuck on the tracks between Metcalfe Lane and Concord Lane at about 7:30 a.m.
Suttle reportedly claimed he had been driving an ATV down the tracks when he saw a train coming at him. He said the ATV became stuck when he tried to get out of the way and he walked to Rogers Group and got a fork lift to try to get it dislodged.
He got the forklift stuck in the process and completely blocked the railroad in that area.
Officials at Rogers Group told HPD that Suttle never had permission to use the lift.
Suttle was arrested and charged with felony receiving stolen property and unauthorized disruption of railroad traffic on tracks.
