Hopkinsville Art Guild offering local families chance to have portrait of loved one lost to COVID-19

The Hopkinsville Art Guild will be offering families in the area a chance to have a portrait painted of a loved one who has passed away due to COVID-19.

According to a news release, ten families will be selected to receive a portrait at no charge of individuals who have died from Covid 19 during the past two years—artists have volunteered to paint a total of ten 8’ by 10″ portraits of the individuals.

The public is invited to submit photographs and a one to two-page letter or story, about the loved one of whom they wish to have a portrait.  Those can be submitted by mail to Elsa Bekkala, The Memorial Project at P.O. Box 108 LaFayette, Kentucky 42254 or by email to Bekkala at drebekkala@gmail.com

Families may submit images and stories throughout the month of August, with a panelist to select the individuals on September 1.  Portrait presentations would be made to the families on November 27.
