The Southeastern Conference will have two new members beginning July 1, 2025 as university presidents and chancellors of the league voted yesterday to extend membership to the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas. The SEC will become the first super conference. SEC commissioner Greg Sankey noted the vote is recognition of the “legacies of academic and athletic excellence” established by Texas and Oklahoma and will relink them to the Southwest Conference joining current SEC members Arkansas and Texas A&M.
