Local doctor receives national designation

Jennie Stuart Health is celebrating one of its own receiving a prestigious national designation.

According to a news release, local OB-GYN Dr. Tarek Toubia recently became one of the first medical professionals in the United States to pass the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology Focused Practice Designation Exam in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery.

The focused practice designation provides the board an opportunity to recognize those who have additional surgical expertise and who dedicate a significant percentage of their practice to the care of women with benign and complex gynecologic diseases, while managing complications using minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Dr. Toubia, who has been with Jennie Stuart since 2016, says “It has always been my passion to pursue this field specifically. And when I found how much minimally-invasive surgery really offers for women — as far as quick recovery, less complications and getting women back to life and community work earlier, especially as they’re taking more leadership roles in the community, I knew I had to become as well-versed as possible. When I saw this opportunity opened up, as far as further testing and credentialing criteria, I applied for it, was accepted and passed it on my first try.”
