A Heat Advsiory is in effect from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. today and those who have to spend time outdoors are reminded of some tips to keep themselves healthy.
Amanda Sweeney-Brunt with the Christian County Health Department says anyone working out in the heat should take frequent breaks indoors or in a shady area.
Just as important, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
Monitor your own body for signs of heat exhaustion and take steps to cool down if you’re getting too hot.
Never leave a baby or pet in a hot vehicle, as temperatures inside a car can become deadly within minutes. Be sure any outdoor pets have water and a place with shade to take refuge from the heat.
The National Weather Service says temperatures in the mid-to-upper 90’s will combine with the humidity to create heat index values of 105 degrees or more until the area cools some on Friday and then more over the weekend.
