Reception held to honor, bid farewell to retiring Jailer Brad Boyd

It was a full house in the lobby of the Christian County Jail Wednesday afternoon, as the community came together to bid farewell to retiring Jailer Brad Boyd.

People traveled from across Kentucky to say farewell and good luck Boyd, who has served at the Christian County Jail since being hired as a deputy jailer in 1994.  Christian County Judge-Executive Steve Tribble says he’s proud of both the jail and Boyd’s efforts to make it one of the best in the state of Kentucky.

County Treasurer Walter Cummings says he’s known and worked with Boyd for a long time, jokingly calling him the worst politician in the county—he says it’s bittersweet to see him go.

Jailer Boyd thanked the people of Christian County for allowing him the honor of serving in that capacity, and says he couldn’t have done anything without the support of his staff.

Boyd was presented with a plaque commemorating his retirement, along with a shadow box containing a uniform and other items as a gift from his staff.  Jailer Boyd’s official last day is July 31, with Major Brad Hewell appointed to serve the remainder of Boyd’s current term.
